Dr. Johnson:
Good morning, Sarah. Please have a seat. How are you feeling today?
Patient Sarah:
Good morning, Doctor. I'm not feeling well. I woke up with a terrible headache and I think I have a fever.
Dr. Johnson:
I'm sorry to hear that. When did these symptoms start?
Patient Sarah:
The headache started last night around 8 PM, and this morning I felt hot and sweaty.
Dr. Johnson:
Have you taken your temperature?
Patient Sarah:
Yes, it was 101.5 degrees Fahrenheit about an hour ago.
Dr. Johnson:
That's definitely a fever. Can you describe the headache? Is it throbbing or more of a constant pressure?
Patient Sarah:
It's mostly throbbing, especially around my temples and forehead.
Dr. Johnson:
Any nausea or sensitivity to light?
Patient Sarah:
A little nausea, yes. The light doesn't bother me too much.
Dr. Johnson:
Let me check your temperature and examine you. Your temperature is still elevated at 101.2 degrees Fahrenheit. Your throat looks slightly red.
Patient Sarah:
Does that mean I have an infection?
Dr. Johnson:
It could be a viral infection. Based on your symptoms, I'd like to prescribe some medication to help with the fever and pain.
Patient Sarah:
What kind of medication?
Dr. Johnson:
I'm prescribing Panadol 500mg tablets. Take one tablet every 6 hours as needed for fever and pain. Don't exceed 4 tablets in 24 hours.
Patient Sarah:
How long should I take them?
Dr. Johnson:
Use them for 3 to 5 days or until your symptoms improve. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids and get rest.
Patient Sarah:
Should I come back if I don't feel better?
Dr. Johnson:
Yes, if your fever persists beyond 3 days or gets worse, please return. Also come back if you develop severe headache, stiff neck, or difficulty breathing.
Patient Sarah:
Thank you, Doctor. I'll follow your instructions.
Dr. Johnson:
You're welcome. Take care and feel better soon.
